This is a solution for those who are trying to run bestart.ncf and get the error message in the SureStart Console, "Error 1004 - A timeout occurred waiting for NDMPD.NLM to initialize"

-Go to the Netware console and type 'edit bestart.ncf'
-On the line that executes bkupexec.nlm, add the following switch to the end -!x
(this will bypass the check for port 10000 when executing bestart)

Hope this helps!

You may see this error message:

NDMPD.NLM: Unable to initialize communication interface.
Another application is currently using NDMP PORT: 10000.
Further program execution is not possible.

If you follow the steps in the first post, it will start.
