IS Manager received a porn email and was totally disgusted and says Exchage 5.5 MUST have a way to filter out this kind of junk. I know I can filter out the offending Email address but that is not good enough for her, anybody know of a filter for this kind of stuff?? Third party software that isnt too pricey? I thought I'd be able to do this with the new version of Groupsheild but havent found a way to do it. Thanks in Advance!

Hi,

There are addin's you can buy that will filter junk mail and viruses too. Check out :-

Can you not use Outlook 2000 to do this. Select Tools, organise. You can turn on the junk mail option on and tell it what to do with "adult content" messages. It's supposed to search your incoming messages for certain words etc. and you can specify what you want done with them, e.g deleted.

But, if your manager wants to stop thia at server level it will have to be a thirs party util. (As far as I know anyway, i'm not an Exchange Expert by any means but this is the way I understand it)

Depending upon the size of your network, you may want to look into the firewall system by eSoft. The system is called InstaGate.

You can filter email for such things and viruses also. We use it here at work.

Their site is
Steve (BTW--I DO NOT WORK for eSoft :) Home: SRFlanigan@home.com
Work: Steve@regionalinternetmedia.com

DILBERT FOR PRESIDENT!

you can also filter it out at your firewall. tell it to delete any attachments with jpg gif avi mpg vbs etc.
I'm not a firewall tech, but thats how things are done here.. about the only thing that can get through is .zip

Thanks guys! I really havent decided what to do yet. This wasnt from a 'person' it was some sort of porn site advertisement. Dont know how they got her addy but seems to me that she would have had to be giving it out to some less than reputable sites. MAybe not porn but someplace that sells addresses or something? Whatever, thanks for your advice.

I too use mailmarshal and get good results. Use the text sensor scripts to filter what you want. Only drawback is the price....something like $1500. But it does a good job filtering the spam etc...

Good luck
