ACCESS2000:

I have a simple popup form, which I use to inform users about that is taking place.

It is displayed as a transparent block, rather than a normal popup. Why???

C Vigil ... Even when time passes, each contribution is useful.

<<Are you by any chance willing to try gratuitous "other things"? What about just changing the size properties of the dialog after it opens? Changing border styles and background colors? Adding and removing controls? Changing the visibility of controls? Moving controls around on the form? Anything that would change the look if it could be seen instead of hanging out in this Zen state ? >>

Tried all that, hoping to find the key cause. I'll try to experiment more with the additional thoughts you've just provided too. But cannot today.

FYI, rather than let the clock keep running on this tasking, I resulted to the ugly standard msgbox function ... just to get something "out there."

Cheers, Sandy

Cool, so now it's academic :) . Y'know, I wouldn't mind seeing a copy of the file with the relevant bits in it. If you wanted to provide an e-mail address -- the one I presently use is temporary, as I am a consultant at this company, so I am reluctant to post their address in these public forums for all eternity -- I'd send you a message to get a copy, and play with it, too, at times like the lunch hour or after work :) . That's just an offer; if you're also reluctant to put your address up here, or to pass on the database (I realise that it might contain sensitive info), I understand.

Cheers, and good luck with the conundrum! -- C Vigil =)

Thanks for the offer, C Vigil.

But, it is sensitive .... so cannot parse it out.

No one has questioned whether or not you have the latest version of Access. I had many repainting issues with the first release of Access 2000 until I installed the SR-1 patch. I would get out-of-memory errors whenever I opened a form that had a tiled bitmap on it, even though I had 512MB of ram.

Does the calling form happen to have a picture on it?

Do you have Access 2000 without the SR-1 patch?

This issue is documented in the Microsoft knowledge base and if you have any more desire to pursue it you should search there.

Version: ACCESS 2000 (9.0.4402 SR-1)

<<Does the calling form happen to have a picture on it?>>
Nope. I only have two labels and no command controls. I establish a message to be displayed in the code. Then, when opening the form, I change the value of one of the label controls to display the message .... the form is visible only while a background process is running. It is a stand by message.

Regards and thanks for the thoughts,
Sandy
