Hi-
I configured exchange out of the box, and everything seems to be working with the exception of the pop 3 virtual server. Users can use OWA, as well as outlook, but when using a pop3 client, you get the error message:

"There was a problem logging on to your mail server. Your password was rejected. Account "Test Email Account" Server "server.eths.com" ERR Unknown username or bad password, Port 110, SecureSSL, No, Server.

Any ideas? I just started the default pop3 server....

Thanks

I think, if memory serves me right that this is an authentification issue, check the level of authentification for your client (Outlook express for example) and the level within the virtual server. Sorry this is not all that clear but its been some time since my E2k course and we do not use pop3, Hope this helps though.

thanks for the help....the authentication is configured to use "Basic"

I've also tried integrated windows....

server error 0x800CCC90
error number: 0x800CCC92

and in the event viewer, i just noticed...

Source: POP3SVC
Event ID 1051

Unexpected error condition: call to function CEncryptCtx::CheckServerCert() resulted in error code 0x800cc801.

Look at Q315963 and maybe Q275291. Dan

thanks dan, it ended up being a change on the smtp virtual server that the MS guy walked me through.
