hello guys!

i have a small network with NT4 servers. I have a proxy and an exchange 5.5 servers. previously the internet connection is done thru dial-up and the users access their emails from a mail server from a service provider thru outlook express.

just recently, we switched over our connection to a satellite feed. just suddenly, they cannot access their external email. btw, we also reinstalled the ms exchange from scratch.

how can give them back their access to their external email?

thanks in advance guys!

1. Have your ISP point your MX A record towards your wan ip address. This is the push. All email is PUSHED into your system.

OR

2. Get a POP3 software package like This is the pull.
Email comes in when you pull it in. Glenn A

Glenn A, I'm interested to know more about How to "Pull" the email from the ISP if we having the the ISP spooling our's email. Can tell me more details on how to setup on Exchange 2K ??

I know that for Ms exchange of SBS version come with the POP3 connector that enable us to download the email from the mail hosting provider. what is the differences between POP3 & SMTP connector ?? Can anyone tell me ??

Thanks in advance.

For Exchange 2K - go to the web site I mentioned before and download the demo software.

For SBS the POP3 software is somewhere on Microsoft Web Site.

SMTP mail is mail that is fowarded, by your ISP to YOUR Exchange Server.

POP3 mail sits on your ISP server or domain server until you ask for it. Glenn A
