Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise. I’ve just installed SBS2003 in our company. For a while at least, we want to use calendar and other features in Exchange but carry on using our ISP email.

I’ve entered the account details into the POP connector and have set my ISP’s SMTP server as the default SMTP server for the whole organisation (again, with all relevant passwords). I’ve also added our domain to recipient policies. Despite this, I can neither send nor receive emails from the client accounts.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what might be wrong.

Many Thanks

Karl (kwinsw)

Did you run the Internet COnnection Wizard in the To Do list?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Yep, thanks for asking. I've run, everything appears to be working fine.

When you set up your ISP's server as the default SMTP, did you also configure your server to authenticate with it using the account of one of the email accounts that is hosted there? It's not always necessary to authenticate at all, but sometimes they require it.

And in the POP3 Connector, you put in each user's email address and login credentials?

If you've done those things in conjunction with (and actually within) the wizard Mark mentioned, you should be good to go.

Did all those things, but with no joy at all. And it's still not working. I'm sure it must be something small that I'm missing.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Let's verify your DNS is setup correctly.

DNS Settings

Set all static NIC TCP/IP properties to only list internal DNS servers.

In DHCP set the DNS setting to internal DNS servers.

In DNS, configure ISP DNS on the forwarders tab.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
