pop-up window not popping!

We are currently running a web-based messaging application. To launch it a user must click on a link in an Internet Explorer window. When clicked, a new window appears prompting for username and password. This is working fine for the majority of users but there are a handful who do not see a second window appear.

Any suggestions as to why this may be the case, and how it could be fixed?

What OS and what version of IE? How does the app work - is it Javascript?

We are running Windows 2000, and IE 6.

the application uses javascript.
