OK... to avoid suggestions I have already tried...

1) I do have a pop-up blocker (Panicware) it is turned completely off

2) I have NO extra toolbars in my explorer (such as yahoo, google, etc...)

3) I do have Ad-aware and Spy-Bot S&D both return clean with no trojans, etc...

4) I use AVG and this and both anti-spy programs are up to date...

5) I do have Service pack 2, and I am aware that it has a built in pop-up stopper, but I actually installed SP2 to try to fix the problem, in other words this was happening before I got Service Pack 2...

6) I also looked through my processes and add/remove programs, and did not see any odd/suspicious programs...

Now for the problem...
Recently, my computer started going vigilanty on pop-ups by itself ;-)

(again... BEFORE I installed SP2)

Alot of the site I go to use pop-ups for special windows that I need (such as my bank, etc...)

When I click a link that is supposed to open a new window, it flashes like it is trying to navigate to it, then just stops... and nothing happens...

Now, I can still drag links to the address bar and reuse the same window that way, however, that is useless when it comes to javascript links...

Even standard pop-up blockers let you hold Ctrl and/or Shift to allow a pop-up, but it does not work now...

So as you can imagine, this is getting even more annoying than the pop-ups were in the first place [curse] [bugeyed] [hammer] [bomb]

PLEASE HELP!!! [lookaround]

Thanks.
I have been recomending "IEFIX" for about a week now.

IEFIX "fixes" the following problems: [Symptoms 1, 2 and 3 explained in Q281679: )

Symptom 1: When you click a hyperlink in an e-mail message or on a Web page, or right-click a hyperlink on a Web page and then click Open in New Window, you may experience one or more of the following issues:

o Nothing happens.
o The new window may be blank.
o You may receive a scripting error message.

Symptom 2: When you use the Print command or the Print Preview command in Internet Explorer, nothing may happen.

Symptom 3: When you try to connect to Web folders, you may receive the following error message: "The current operation could not be completed because an unexpected error has occurred."

Symptom 4: Internet Explorer does not prompt for the default browser check even though the prompt is enabled in Internet Options.

Symptom 5: Internet Options Advanced tab is completely blank.

Symptom 6: Internet Explorer About box version information is completely blank.

--------

What IEFix does?

o Registers the core modules of Internet Explorer.
o Refreshes Internet Explorer using IE.INF method. (Optional)
o For Windows 2000/XP: Initiates "SFC /Scannow". (Optional)
o Repairs two important registry keys which are required to set Internet Explorer as the default browser

[For hyperlinks issue, try "Reset Web Settings" in Internet Options first]

IEFIX:

yeah, I checked both of the "Skip" Options at the bottom and just let it re-register the core modules and it worked perfectly... no restart or anything... (XP home)

Thanks again!!!
