Hello,

I'm running E2K Enterprise. Sending and receiving works fine to internal and external addresses via the exchange protocol.

However, when I try to setup a POP connection, I cannot download mail. When I attempt to send and receive I get error 0x8004210 saying that the connection to the POP server has timed out. Also when I try to send mail to an external address using the same config I get an error back as an email saying "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay"

Everything else works except those two problems. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

What client are you using to send the mail? It sounds like your trying to send from Outlook Express relaying off the Exchange Server?

Are you local to the Exchange Server when you try to download POP3 messages? Does it work for anyone? Dan

I'm using Outlook XP. I tried it both on the server itself and on my local machine, connecting from inside the network both times.

I only have two account setup: the admin and myself. It doesn't work for either.

Thanks.

Did you change anything on the SMTP Virtual Server?

Any changes to POP3 setting? Dan

Um... it's working now. Very odd. I don't know what could have been causing that problem.

Thanks anyway Dan. I appreciate your help.

Okay, I can connect to POP and download mail... but I am still getting the "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay" message when I send a message to any external address...

any suggestions?

What if you setup a MAPI profile? Dan

Well I got it to work by setting outlook to require authentication when sending via SMTP. Is this how I should be doing it?

I guess this has to do with allowing other servers to relay off of me also?

Yup. You will see on the relay tab.

"Allow all computers that authenticate" check box. Dan
