Poof No modem and poof no sound

Looking for advice; Aptiva PC 333 and all was well. One day the modem stopped working and it will not reinstall, cannot locate...now a few days later same thing with the sound card. "no audio device detected"
Some kind of virus?

Sounds to me like a driver issue. Do you have CD for computer?...If so delete it from device manager and reinstall drivers. I think its a driver issue. If your unsure....Dont do it!

Sounds to me like it could be a physical hardware problem, you may need to replace them. If you can put them a different computer you could find out for sure.
