You can conference from a polycom through the Legend, but you must be calling out on it to do conference. If the called party isn't yet ready to conference, have them call back on another extension when they are, then "polycom " out to them.

Hi,

I found the above post while searching on this forum

The question is, can the Legend system be set up so that the person using the Polycom can dial out, connect to a person, then dial out a second time, connect to another person?

We can do the above when the Polycom is connected directly to a regular analog line.

We have Merlin Legend r.3.1 ver 2.0, Hybrid/PBX.

The Polycom SoundSation2 is connected to an MFM board in a MLX-10DP phone. MLX and Polycom (MFM) have separate extensions.

I tried using either the conference or the flash button to join in the second party, but in both cases the call gets terminated when the conference or flash buttons are pressed.

I can dial internal extensions and external numbers from the Polycom. MFM is programmed as a primary-I for MLX ext to which it's attached and it has a cover on another phone.

What do I need to change to get it working? We have WinSPM r.9

Sorry if this sounds amateur - I am just a network admin here trying to do my best with an old phone system. I appreciate a lot your time to read through this and your response.

The thread you quoted is somewhat misleading.

The FEATURE REFERENCE STATES:

"Adjuncts connected to a Multi-Function Module (MFM) cannot send a switchhook flash. (Whenever possible, such adjuncts should be attached to an 012 module or an 016 module."

Therefore, you are out of luck.

Thanks merlinman - the reason for this is clear now.

Could we swap a 012/016 module for the 008 ATL (Slot # 4) board in our setup (below), without reprogramming?

Backplane: Merlin Legend
Mode: Hybrid/PBX
Slot # 0: CPU ( Release 3.1 version 2.0 firmware)
Slot # 1: 408 GS/LS-MLX (4 outside lines and 8 MLX (digital) telephones)
Slot # 2: 408 GS/LS (4 outside lines and 8 analog telephones) - ATL board
Slot # 3: 408 GS/LS (2 outside lines, 1 MusicOnHold line, 1 LoudpeakerPage line and 8 analog telephones) - ATL board
Slot # 4: 008( 8 voice terminals) - ATL board
Slot # 5: 007 MLM w/ 6 port Mail Upgrade Card ( 6 Internal Voice Mail ports, 1 Internal Modem port (5 unused ports)) Merlin Mail
