pointer hangs

After clean install of xp pro the screen & pointer hang up for 2-3 seconds then ok for about 2 mins, then repeats over and over. I have celeron 850mhz 512mb, ms mouse.
I know this has been a problem but can't find the solution. thanks darrell

Have you tried an update to your mouse software? They are frequently updated.

Sorry for delay raining with roof leak. Yes to both and thanks, but the probelm is related to xp pro freezing the screen and pointer.
Had this problem on another computer and MS had a solution but can't find it now. they had me change something in the software? Darrell

Who had you change something in your software, and what was the change?

I telehoned MS and the tech. told me to change settings as we talked, don't remeber the process, but was about a year ago. Didn't think I would see it again. Darrellee

No response for help.. The problem appears that some program is trying to open but can't? Does this help for solution to my re?
