Has anyone implementd a point to point VPN using Cisco Pix solution? Basically LAN to LAN connectivity via the Internet through a tunnel (instead of typical frame or leased line or t1 connectivity). I'd like to find out what issues you encounter implemenation and management wise.

I've set up PIX to PIX and PIX to router Lan to Lan links, no real issues cropped up. Perfromance is better than I would have expected, probably due to the massive overspend by ISP's on the backbone networks.

I would recommed you consider purchasing a VPN accelerator card for the PIX if your going to support several links, this really depends on bandwidth to be supported. However the card can be added later, a PIX 525 will typically support IPSec 10 tunnels over a 2meg WAN link to the Internet.

thanks routerman. i have 4 remote sites that need to connect to the head office via vpn (they are currently on frame-relay). each remote site has at most 10 computers.

Just re-read my last message post, I should have said PIX 515. The 525 is for enterprise networks. I think for your application the PIX 515 without the encryption card should do, what speed link do you have to the Internet at HQ?
