Point to Point configuration between 2620 and 1720 routers

Hello all, We have in our main site a Cisco 2620 router with a dual T1 Wic (3Mb) connection to our ISP. I need to configure a point to point connection from our remote site to the 2620. The remote site is using a 1720 with a single T1DSU Wic card. I'm installing a single T1 DSU Wic on the 2620 which has an available slot. Ideal solution is to route everybody's data on the remote end to our main site, so they care share our new 3Mb internet line. The 2620 router is not doing nat, we have a firewall with a external and internal interface. How will I point the remote clients to know the firewall gateway? Can anybody post any configs or links on how to setup both routers, thanks so much who helps.
 
get on your 1720 router go to enable mode and type

I need to further elaborate, our main network is a 192.168.1.0 and the remote subnet is 192.168.2.0. On the main site the default gateway for the client computer's is the internal ip address of the firewall. Ideally I want the remote subnet to use the existing firewall for internet usage. Finally, should i use the existing 2620 to do the point to point configuration. I have an extra router for this implementation at the main end. Please advise, thanks so much
 
are you using a routing protocol like EIGRP?

Which router, the one for the internet or point to point? As far as im concern no not using EIGRP. Do you think I should use the existing 2620 router or use a second router for the point to point? thanks

Im assuming I have to configure the serial interfaces on the T1's, does anybody have any examples. I want to test the serial interfaces from both sites. Please advise, thank you

depends if your using a seperate csu/dsu device thats in between your router and ISp

or is it cleaned from the providor?

your using straight point to point T1 right?

which one is the dce or dte?

or does your router use a WIC ?
do the sh diag on the router

Both routers will be using the WIC-1DSU-T1 modules. We will be using striaght point to point. I'll post the sh diag on each router.

If this Point2Point (P2P) line is a standard P2P line, framing will = ESF and line coding will be B8ZS.

In Cisco, these are default configuration.

Beware, that you may need to configure 1 side of your P2P to have the clock source = line and the other end configured for clock source = internal.

I recommend that your main hub site be configured for clock=internal and your remote clock = line. Helps keep it straight if you keep the clocking on one end.

updated status, Both routers on each end the serial interfaces are down. I'm posting the capture screen from a terminal connection from both routers. I'm assuming our telco company is in fault.

The telco company is telling the lines are fine. Please advise, thank you.
 
Can the vendor perform a loopback test from the CO to both the routers at each end? When they put the interface in loopback mode, you should see the interface come up/up. When they take the loopback off it will go back down.

Read this document on how to troubleshoot serial lines.
 
I also noticed that you IP scheme won't work on the T1. Both ends are configured for 10.1.1.1. You'll need to change one end to 10.1.1.2 for traffic to pass once the Line issues are resolved.

Have you tried putting the main router service module clocking to line and leaving the other end to internal?
