hello all, i am in search of a POS that is built on top of a MS SQL DB for a mid market (30 stores)
today we use retail pro 8.62 and hate it, retail pro v9 is on top of oracle and i am not a fan of that move either.
i know about
MicroSoft POS (not good for apparel)
Celerant (this product sucks)
CounterPoint SQL
JDSSC WinRetail

any more out there exist?

Keystroke POS is moving to MSSQL soon. Check with them on release date. I've used it in many retail settings, liquor stores, apparel and hardware.

Call SBS at 800.359.3458, or contact
your local Authorized Keystroke Dealer

thanks, have you used keystroke in a 10+ multistore environment?

The Micros 9700 is SQL Server based. I haven't used it, we were 10 stores into the 3700, (Sybase), when the 9700 switched to MSSQL so missed that boat.

thanks, but the 9700 is a pos for hospitality, i need something specific to apparel

True 9700 is designed for hospitality but is there anything specifically you need your POS solution to do?

Not that many stores - mostly liquor stores. I forwarded this post to one of my friends I would call an expert on keystroke retail pos. Hopefully he has time to respond to you questions.

be able to group ITEMS as styles in apparel/fashion a shirt can come in 2 colors 5 sizes, so a total of 10 items need to be grouped together by style, then by color, then broken out by size for reporting purposes. this is why Microsoft POS doesnt work for me. i need to be able to run offline in case internet goes down. i need the ability to do inventory transfers between stores and also treat one store as a distro center and or have a main corporate office functionality (JDSS WinRetail does this)
a good diagram of what i need to be able to do is here: but that is only 1 product, i would like to shop between a few options
