Hi all,

I have a 5224 IP phone and need to run dual PKM's. I can get both PKM's to function (I can assign keys on both PKMs that work), but only the PKM that is directly connected to the 5224 phone has keys that light up. The second PKMs keys do not light up. I am assuming this is a PoE problen and that the module attached to the first PKM does not provide power?

Any thoughts?

The power required for Mitel IP phones is fairly constant whether they are in use or sitting idle. Very loud ringer and hands free settings can draw more power than normal.
Additional devices connected to the IP Phone such as a Programmable Key Module (PKM) and a Conference Unit increase the power required by the IP phone. If additional devices are connected to the IP phones it is possible to exceed the power budget.
The power budget for the CXi, which guarantees power allocation, is based on the PoE class.

You will need a 24 volt power adapter to light up the secondary PKM.

Ynot,

That makes complete sense. Unfortunately I didn't have access to a power unit. I checked the PoE output at the switch and it seems we were nearing capacity. I patched to another switch that was 90% free and this seemed to fix the problem.

Thank you for the assistance, much appreciated!

Note: I logged a ticket with our mitel support but I get quicker responses here (I still havent heard from them).

Great forum!
