POA Shutting down unexpectedly

Hi everyone,

I'm running GroupWise 6.5 on a windows 2000 Server. Once or twice a week
the POA will shutdown on its own. It is usually Sunday or Monday at the
same time 8:00 PM (Time when the QuickFinder maintenance starts).

Any idea why is this happening and how to fix it?

Run it on a NetWare server

What is your GW service pack level?
What is your Win2k SP level?

Do you have all useless services disabled on the server (Messenger, Autoupdate, etc)

Are you sure your server is clean of virus, trojan, spyware?

Do you get anything in the event log?

Win2000 SP4

Messenger and Autoupdate disabled

No viresuses found

Event log:

Event id 7031

The POA service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time. The following action will be taken in 1800000 milliseconds. Restart the service.

Just being inquisitive, do you use NWAdmin or ConsoleOne for GW administration? Only ConsoleOne should be used on a v6.x.x system.

Get the updated agent, GW6.5 is at SP1 now.

Do a top down rebuild of the system,

If that does not help, us GWCheck and Analyze/Fix your Post Office.

If you have to go the route of contacting Novell as FarOut's post suggests, expect to drop about $400 for the support call.
