I have recently upgraded my Radeon 7500 to a FX5200 , and everytime my pc is in a game for a while the signal is lost and the pc locks up .

I have a 500wt power supply

so i dont see it being a power issue.

any thoughts on what it could be? I have 3 fans and the psu is activley cooled with 2 fans

cheer

Of course, there's the standard answers for that. First thing I would say to check is your BIOS, chipset drivers, sound drivers, and video drivers. Of course, make sure you also have all Windows Updates taken care of, as well. If those are all current, try lowering the graphics acceleration in the advanced properties of your video adapter, just by one notch. If none of that works, repost and I'll see if I can come up with any other ideas for you.

cheers iam up to date on 4in1 drivers and video and sound .

it seems to be time related .

i left elite force 2 running yesterday and after about 20 mins the pc just locks up.

Hmm...locks up after 20 minutes. I am going to assume that the time figure is fairly consistent, and also that you did try lowering your graphics acceleration one notch. Unfortunately, the next item on my list of things to check would be the system memory. If you have 2 separate RAM chips, I would remove first one, then the other, and see if the problem is more pronounced with one than the other. To go any further, I would also need more information about your system configuration, i.e. hardware and OS, and also what software you might have running in the background. Repost and let me know...

its a athlon 2000 with a 256mb ram chip and a 512 mb ram chip(bought the same time i bought the new card)

so iam going to try taking the new ram out .

os is xp pro sp 1

and the only things running in the background are nav and ZAP.

sideband adressing or fast write enabled? nv gpus arent too friendly to these. flash new bios? i know when i upgraded my gpu, old bios was the problem. same exact symptoms.

Check your CPU temps as well after a good stint but before the lockup.
Should be below 60C

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
