After installing Rage 128 Ultra 4x AGP, PnP loads 32 device drivers; where in Device Manager of Win 98 shows 1 without problems and 31 with "?" indicating a problem. I've tried to remove the excess drivers to no avail. The system works with the 32 drivers; however I am unable to use my DVD. Perhaps the 4x AGP is incompatible with my 2x motherboard.

Hi NoCo
Try this if you haven’t already, I’m not saying it will sort out your problem but at least it would get rid of all unwanted Vid drivers.
1- un-install all programs relating to your vid card and DVD drive
2- Start in Safe Mode
3- in Control Panel/System … Device Manage, remove/un-install all the graphic cards, DVD drive and any none functioning devices.
4- Re-start in normal mode and reload vid card only.
5- Re-start and load your DVD drivers and progs.

Please repost
Good luck

Thanks, but I've done all of that and PnP still reloads multiple drivers. Whatsoever, if I install my ATI Expert 98 Rage Pro AGP after following step 3 of the sugested procedure the driver for this is installed correctly. Keep in mind that I believe this to be a 2x AGP ( determined by the single notch keying of the edge connectors)and the problem device 4x AGP.
