I am trying to install a partner mail vs with a 4 port expansion card. when i dial into the vm it says voice mail is in test mode, press 1 to test tone reconiction, press 2 to test recording.

This occurs when the port card is not recognized. Try reseating it with the power off, but the port card might not be working properly.

Its a 4 port exp card, can the VM work with out it if the card is bad?

Depending upon the release, it should work in 2-port mode without the 4-port upgrade license.

Just make sure you reprogram the Partner to see only 2-ports vs. 4-ports.

If you get a message, saying it is in "Test Mode", it's got to be Partner Messaging instead of Partner Mail VS. VS Mail will work as 2 ports without a card, but Messaging goes into test mode.

What slot is the card in? If it is in Slot 2, it will come up in test mode. It needs to be in Slot 1.

See TTT's reply.

The Avaya Partner Messaging will give you that message if there is either a defective or missing port card. The Partner Mail VS will operate with 2 ports when there is no license present.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

OK, reset 4 port card and it now answers. Got another problem, this is a module that is labled partner mail, it has a 4 port card installed as well.

When I try to log in admin 99# it says this is an invalid entry, what is the code to get into admin programming for this system, also tried 9# and same thing. Tried 0# and goes to a mailbox.

I think (hope and pray) that the password to get into admin hasent changed but I need to get into it to find out.

Also have 308 processor, 2- 308 expansion modules and hung group 7 set to extensions 36-39 correct or no?

Thanks

Remember that you got the message about "Test Mode"? And that message pertains to Partner Messaging? Please go and get the manual here
After perusing it, you will find that the System Administrator's mailbox is 0#, and that there is NO default password, rather it is set by the initial installer on the first login.
