I can't get Phone Manager Pro to work on a computer with Windows 7. I do browse, choose the IP, that works. Then when I click User List, it gives an error message:

"Unable to connect to 10.1.1.111" It shows the correct IP, for my IP500 unit.

I'm using PMP 4.2.31 on this computer and Windows 7.

I have 2 other computers using 3.2.28 with Windows 7 and it works, but I don't know if that's the reason, if there's a problem with the newer Phone Manager.

Does anyone know what to do about "unable to connect?"

On a separate topic, the search in this forum seems to not work for anything recent. When I do a search, it only finds discussions from 2007 and earlier.

Thank you,
Bill

No version of 3 or 4 supports win 7 and the search in ipo forum has not worked since before your first post in early 2009. Thats the way is goes I suppose.

It's people like you who generalize.

Actually, I have 4.2.28 running on 2 Windows 7 computers and they seem to work fine. I just installed 4.2.31 on another Windows 7 computer and it also works.

The problem is just on this one computer.

I start Phone Manager. It starts up, but it's not logged it, and it doesn't come up with the login window, until I choose "Login"

I choose Login, I do browse, choose the IP, that works. Then when I click User List, it gives an error message:

"Unable to connect to 10.1.1.111"

Here's my guess: I'm thinking it's storing some info in some type of "preferences" file, and that info is wrong, and I need to delete it and let it reset/recreate it.

Question: Where does Phone Manager store the IP address, login name and password? What's the file name, or is it in an .INI file or other location, for Windows 7?

I did try uninstall and re-install and it does the same thing.

Thank you,
Bill

4.2.31 is supported for windows7 so it should work.
Could be a firewall issue.
Did you use the firewall.batch file ?

It was a firewall problem. I turned off the firewall and Phone Manager Pro worked.

Thank you tlpeter!

BTW; Windows 7 has useful new settings for firewall. You can set it differently at office and home/elsewhere. Great for laptops!

I want the firewall off at work (we already have one) and
Firewall on when a user takes their laptop off site.

Tom, thanks for info on location of user profile. It didn't help this time, but it's good to know.

Gracias,
Bill

So you give an answer that was not the solution and receive a star :)
