Experiencing a few anomalies with PM 7.0 in WIN XP, e.g., (1)moving a PM file to the Desktop results in Access Denied messages, and the file cannot be returned to its previous folder; (2)attempt to delete the same file from the Desktop again results in an Access Denied message but if Shift-Delete is used the file will delete, but it will not allow itself to be put in the Recycle Bin; (3)copied a PM file from the PM application in ME to the PM application in XP successfully, but after moving the file from Layout view to Story Editor, going to Utilities, Spelling, the application closes the moment I click on Start for the spell check--other files created in PM 7 on the XP drive will check spelling without a problem. Don't understand these strange happenings.

That is way I never use and Win OS until the 3rd service pack....

Jeep,
I am having the same issue with spell check. It will work sometimes then it will just close PageMaker when you click on it. Have you found a solution for your problem? To help you with your first question if you are getting Access Denied then you are not logging onto your machine with enough permissions. Try logging onto your machine as the Administrator and see if that fixes your problem.

First, you need to uninstall PM7.0.. then log in as admin, or give the user admin privileges, and then reinstall PM. Make sure you have vs. 7.1 upgrade, also. After Pmis installed, you may make the user a power user rather than admin, if you are using XP Home, give the user privileges that a power user would have. PM requires the ability to read/write the registry, hence the problems in XP.

Hereis what Adobe has to say about PM & XP:
When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
