Hi Guys,

This is really weird. We have a shared folder called "public" residing on a NT 4 server. The problem is, if I try to access any information within public from any workstation , it says "locked for editing by username, read only". This is for every single folder in public. I checked the permissions and everything like that, and everyone has full control. It was working fine yesterday. Any ideas besides rebooting the server? Thanks!

By the way, I scanned the NT server for viruses, and none exist.

Don79,

Are there any other administrators who might have a hold on the "public" share?

If so, this will create this type of symptom

It's possible that someone else, or another PC is writing to the folder and "locking" it.

hope this helps
