Hi All,

I am having problems installing Nero 5.5 (which I have installed before with no problem).

Here is what is happening.
Put in cd and the autorun starts.
Click "install nero" and it starts installing but then stops only a few seconds later with the following error message.

" E:Nero55\Nero\cdrom.cfg"
"Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

I checked and the file is there but if I try and copy the file to my desktop I get the following..

" Cannot copy cdrom.cfg. Access is denied, make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use"

I tried installing on another computer running win98 and had no problems, So I am sure that it must be some setting in windows.

Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks
Stealer

As a starter, in order to reinstall the file you must completely shut down the program (in this case Nero) and replace the file by way of the files in Windows Explorer. A file will indicate all that other stuff, e. g., write protected, etc., whenever you are attempting to change out files within a running program. If you change out the file and it still doesn't work you may contact Ahead Tech Support or I would be more than happy to send you the file (or the whole program for that matter, depending on your ISP speed) I have Nero 5.5.8.0. dick214@charter.net

Hi there, I got the same problem. Were you able to solve that issue, Stealer? If yes: how?

I also have Nero and have also incured a problem sumular to you'rs.. I had to totally remove Nero from my computer. go to find and type in Nero and delite them, then go to start>run>type in regedit>ok>click edit tab>find> type in Nero>find and delite all you can find by going to find next till it has scaned the whole reg. After completly clearing you're system of Nero it should install with no problems.. afterwards while online you can update to newer version by going to if you want..

The reason I had that problem is because I formated my drive with system files and then installed windows after that. Had something to do with cd rom drivers. As it turned out I had to reformat again for another reason that I can't remember now. But then I had no problems at all.
Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. After I have changed an entry in the config.sys from
Device=\ATAPIcd.SYS /F:CDROM
to
Device=\ATAPIcd.SYS /F:CDROM1
everything worked.
If there is a similar entry in the autoexec.bat it should be changed, too.
