I work at a large Zen Shop and we have or are exhausting our options here, We specify some policies for the workstations like removing the run line from start. These use to work great but after the ZFD4 upgrade they are no longer working. Well they work sometimes and sometimes not work. So far I have no rhyme or reason to the functionality I hope someone has had this issue and knows how to resolve it Please help!!!

by the way these are all windows 2000 pc's and we are using DLU which breaks as well

The first thing I would start to check is that your workstations are registering properly with the tree. I have seen where if the workstation doesn't register, then DLU fails. You can check by opening the Advanced Application Launcher screen (NAL window, Help - About, F2 key and more button). In the upper right hand corner of the screen it will tell you if the workstation manager has connected or not.

I think I might start sounding like a broken record by saying this.. but since all this stuff is stored and managed by NDS, I can't help it.

Is your tree healthy? Do you have NDS synch problems? Stuck obits? Time out of whack? Do you have any errors when you do a check on the sync status of the servers?

I see a lot of problems on a daily basis and although on the surface appear to be something else, most of them come down to being a problem with DS and the overall health of the tree. When it comes to intermittent problems like this, that is the first place I'd look. Once you can verify that DS is healthy and stable, you can look to other possible causes.

Are u using Client 4.9? if so load 4.9 SP1A we found that the startmenu was not working correctly on NT machines for Client 4.9...The policy appeared to come down but we found that if you changed the policy it in fact did not change the startmenu...All other items did work but not startmenu...

XP was also the same for us...
