Hello Everyone,

Hopefuly someone can shed a light. We are in a really bad situation.

The company purchased a OEM version of Exchange 2000 Server Enterprise. This software got installed by an outside consultant, everything was going fine until a couple of days, when the exchange server started shutting down every hour. After researching I found out that the package that was acquired came with a beta version of exchange 2000 standard edition (evaluation version CD) and a Exchange 2000 upgrade enterprise edition CD.

Since, you cannot install an upgrade version over a beta version the exchange services are shutting down very hour, cause is now over the trial period (120 days).

The company has now acquired a retail version of the package(which should of done in the first place), I have added another Exchange Server to the organization and I am now moving mailboxes.

The problem I have run into, is that I have mailboxes bigger than 2 GB in size, and I need to move them before the one hour mark, before the service shutsdown on me.

Any suggestions or tools that will enable me to accomplish this task??????

Any help is really, really appreciated.

Thanks,
Rocket

You could try using exmerge to export the mailboxes into PST files, may run quicker than moving between the two Exchange servers.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

I once had this problem and what I did is shutdown all the exchange services and them made a copy of the database ( mine was about 15gb) and then created a new server and gave it the exact same name and store names as the orginal server and then copied the database to the appropriate directory and it came right up and worked right away. I had to associate the mailboxes to the usernames but that was pretty easy. Hope this helps. I too was surprised it worked.

First of all, Thank You very much Norton and dvientos for your quick response. I know I can always count on this forum. :)

Is to late to make a copy of the DB, I'm almost done with all the mailbox move, except for the big mailboxes. But I think is a great idea, should of thought of that earlier.

Have another question though, if I use exmerge utility don't I loose the single instance feature of exchange??

My DB is over 40GB and if I loose the single instance feature its goin gto grow even bigger and I can't afford that to happen.

Thanks again guys!

Take care.

Rocket.
