I feal kinda dumb here. I am setting up the server on Windows XP(with SP1), Installed it from exe, and I got it so it LOOKS like it is working here, but no one can acces the site... here are the specs:

Apache 2.0.43
Windows XP Pro W/SP1
Road Runner Cable Modem
Norton Internet Security 2003
(port 80 is not blocked for incomeing trafic)
Using no-ip.com redirect( , but ppl can not even connect with just my IP)
No router(at this time)

Please help if you can.
Thx,
psycopup

Set security in the firewall for medium level, which is to Block only known Trojan Horses. Originally the default was to block everything, and my sites were blocked until I set security from high to medium. Newposter

This sounds fishy - I know you said this in the original post, but are you sure the firewall is set up correctly?

Yup, firewall is setup right, ppl cant connect even with it down...
The reason I feel dumb is that I am a computer programer/tech, but this is my first attempt at setting up a web server and I fell lost now.... lol
Is there a step by step guide 4 setting it up?(kinda like Apache 2.0.43 4 idiots? lol)

Have you checked to make sure that xp's firewall isn't on? (in addition to the Norton version) View Network Connections, right click on your network connection, Properties, Advanced tab.

yup, was the 1st thing I checked after the normal firewall. the windows one is off

So if I understand correctly, even with the firewall off:

1) You can connect with your IP of 67.8.26.255, but not with 127.0.0.1

2) No one at all can connect with your domain name, and

3) No one else can connect with either IP address.

Have you checked with your domain registrar? I signed up a couple of domains with one, and they didn't create the DNS files correctly. I could only get to my site with the IP address, and I don't know if anyone outside could. They recreated the files and it all worked.

Port 80 is not being blocked by those guys in most areas, however, they do not allow you to host web sites on your own machine, and they don't give static IP addresses, so it is difficult to rely on hosting at home (not that it isn't done) 8) Newposter

Is the 67.8.26.255 ip adress static or is it your current ip address right now. I can't even ping that address, which leads me to believe that something's blocking it.

lol, well, some1 hit me with a flood ov DoS packets just after posting my ip here. I am back up now. BTW smash, thx 4 the time u r givin here :)

ok, all fixed... My ISP was blocking it, but I got around that.... I hate it when they lie to you.
