Is there someone could explain to me which is the difference between the 2 way a license can be ordered/generated?

Both docs and Manager specify the license originator, I wonder which is the real sense (if it is), or is just an administrative problem ?

PLDS is only used for the branch edition or the server edition select.
All the other is still ADI.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Apparently you can use PLDS for normal IP Office now if you want to wait over a week for licenses!!!!

Jamie, plds is not an option for a normal ipo.
These licences are for the branch edition ipo.
I have asked Avaya and that was there answer.

It confuses me too, just what our Scansource Account Manager told me yesterday.

I don't think licensing gets much better or easier than ADI, let's leave it as is :)

If you have an Admin/purchasing account swaps and purchases are instant, only split licence swaps need intervention by a disty, and they aren't needed in a hurry :)

I heard ADI is going away, PDLS will be the only game in town. right now you can order licenses either way from your distributor. but we have ben using PLDS for months now on all our orders. but it does stink having to wait.

Mumble.... this is what my ADI account states about R9.1, the first block could be ordered by ADI, all the others not, as you can see it seems the PLDS ones are not related on branch or SE only....

Server Edition Select ISO licensed via PLDS. So all ADI licenses are available via PLDS as well.

This is what I found on the Avaya docs:

Software licensing for IP Office R9.1 will remain predominantly in ADI, however there will be instances where PLDS licensing will be used. For new IP Office R9.1 quotes, the ASD and A1S configuration tools will default on licensing in the following manner:

o ADI Licensing Scenarios
Most Basic/Essential/Preferred/Server Edition deployments (same as R9.0)

o PLDS Licensing Scenarios
Essential and Preferred Edition in an Aura branch deployment (same as R9.0)
Preferred and Server Edition when quoted with either IP Office Contact Center or Avaya Contact Center Select (new to R9.1)
All IP Office Select scenarios (new to R9.1)

o In addition, there will be an option to configure any new Basic, Essential, Preferred, or Server Edition with PLDS licensing. (new to R9.1).
o Please note that existing systems upgrading to R9.1 should purchase the upgrade license in the same license format that resides on their system.

PLDS is a complete different order process to ADI, and does take a little longer.
PLDS licenses are obtained by the Disty the end result is a LAC for which you activate in the AVAYA PLDS portal to get your keys.
Any IP Office 9.1 IPOCC Server Edition configurations we are designing we base on PLDS end to end for IPOCC and System Licenses, that way its all common and not a mix of ADI and PLDS which is a real pain. Sooner you move to ASD and or One Source Web configurator for the larger designs the better, as they really promote PLDS licensees, not to mention brings it all in line with Scopia and SBC licensees - which to are all PLDS based licenses too.

PLDS is not as easy to use as ADI licenses, but once you start using the PLDS portal you get the hang of how it works, however it is a constant learning process. I'm sure anybody who has sold Scopia of late would agree with me. ;)

Regards

MrIPO

And another 50 links on one page for one freaking tool.
Avaya seems to think we are all rocket scientists.
Make a tool that is easy to use and does not require training just for creating and managing licenses.
IPOSS is the same disaster with 50 links for training and maintaining IPOSS.

Who creates these tools?
