Playing MP4 in QT with Safari.

I'm relatively new to this. This problem is stumping me. I've ripped a DVD (my own film) and create an MP4 of it. It plays fine in QuickTime (vs. 7.0.4) on my Mac, but won't play when I upload it to my website and try to play it with QT through Safari (or Firefox for that matter). I can play MOV files like this, but the MP4s are a lot smaller and download faster, hence I'd rather use this format.

Any suggestions?
