Playback doesn't stop on 1st scene

I have a flash movie that had many scenes. The first scene is a menu but when I export the movie it doesn't stop at the menu but plays the next scene. I have a stop action on the menu. Any idea on why this is happening will be most appreciated.

Well, if you have a stop(); action it should stop. Try adding another one on another layer, to see it it will stop then. If that fails, maybe you have another action within your menu that has the movie play. Hard to say without having a look at your .fla.

It sounds like you are only stopping the menu from continuing, not the entire scene. Put your stop() in the scene, not on a MC.
