I have been asked to set up a custom message that is played to a caller before they are sent into a users voicemaibox. I do not want to affect the individual users customized voicemail message, I just need a pre-recorded message to play to the caller before they are dropped into the voicemail box.

For example: An external caller calls an internal user. The user does not answer after 4 rings, this prerecorded messages plays, then the caller is sent to the actual users mailbox.

How do I accomplish this?

IP Office 8.1 on IP 500.

you would have to steer all calls through vmail pro (if you have it) to a menu with an annc, then they could dail the users extension after, make sure $key in in the transfer action.

You don't say, but I'll assume you have VMPRO.

In the LEAVE Default Start Point, put a generic action with the recording you want, and then a mail leave action with callers mailbox selected.

Good, then it will work. Just tested it myself. Forgot to turn it off and had some customers call me and they heard "blah blah blah blah" and then my greeting, haha!

Yes, create leave start points under each user it is needed, works in the same fashion.

I wanted to suggest to use announcements for each user that wants it but if you have it working that way then leave it.

Austin - Is there a way to set this up for a single user then copy the flow to the other specific users who need this configuration? It seems I have to manually create this for each user.

Uhm yeah, sure. Drag a box around the things you want to copy, hit ctrl c, go to that user's leave start point, hit ctrl v. copy n paste.
