Placing Type over Background texture? 2

I have a background texture that I want to use from Alien Skin (diamond plate). I want to place some text over it so it looks like the type was painted on the texture (I dont want the type to look flat-just layered over the texture). How do I do this? Are there any tutorials online using this effect. What is it called?

Appreciate any help or suggestions.

Try a differend blending mode on the text layer like color, or overlay.
