Hi,
I know MANY people ask "How can I open a PDF in Director?", and just about everyone in the forums suggest BuddyAPI or Impressario. My client is cheap, and didn't pay me enough to purchase either of these programs, so they get the Adobe Reader 5.0 on their CD. I've read that to get this to work properly, the syntax needs to be:

open the moviePath & "someFile.pdf" with the moviePath & "acrobat exe file"

How do I get the actual exe file onto the CD? I have copied the application from my computer and pasted it onto the CD, but it doesn't work. Is there a way to just download the exe file, without having it automatically install on my computer? I know this sounds like a dumb question...but I'm stuck...I'd really appreciate your help, and the more detailed you are, the better.
Also, is their a way to put the QuickTime Player on the CD as well? Thank you for your help

Reader EXE on its own will not work as you also need extensions, plug-ins etc. Try copying entire Acrobat Reader folder onto your CD.

Only version 4 (Mac) 4/5 (PC) can be run from a CD but this technique is no longer supported by Adobe:

There's a detailed article about this topic on the net:

As for QuickTime, you cannot run off a CD. You can put the installer on your CD though.

Thanks so much for your help. I was confused about that. It works fine now. You rock!
