Hey folks...

I'm having a problem when I print a scanned photo (of a person) with pixelation.
I need to resize the image. I do it by resizing the image by a percent under 'image\imagesize' leaving the resolution at 400 (thats what I scanned it in as).
the final picture looks great on my monitor but printed out it's crap. I'm using a
Epson 820 Photo Printer(its a good one). Also, when I print out a digital photo
that I took and imported from my camera it turns out great.
I know there is a lot I need to learn about printing and pixels and stuff, any
good recs on a good book or web page or tape? Thanks...

Also...
Does it matter if I'm printing a .psd or should it be in .jpg format. And, with
an ink-jet photo printer, does it need to be CMYK or is RGB ok?
thanks.

Read my FAQ on Printing Resolutions FAQ229-1854.

It is a bit long but all information is relevant. You will see the variuos formulas for determining what resolution to use at certain pixel sizes, or how big something will print out when you know your resolution, and what resolution you should use. It also mentions scanning, but that part is just my personal preference, I will be adding more to it later.

BTW - I would suggest that you print from .psd and not .jpg
Read my FAQ on Different File Types FAQ229-1909. And I always print pictures out using RGM not CMYK.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you run into any problems!
