We are shooting a movie on HDV video, editing it in Premiere Pro 2.0, and need to print "production stills" pictures from frames of the video. The problem is, they print as "squished" instead of anamorphic wide screen 16x9, which is how the video is shot. (We have Adobe Production Suite Pro 2)

We export the frame as a .bmp in Premiere Pro 2.0, then open it in Photoshop CS2. We can view it on the computer just fine by using IMAGE | PIXEL ASPECT RATIO | HDV ANAMORPHIC. But, of course, the "Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction is for Preview Purposes Only".

How do we "permanently" correct the Pixel Aspect Ratio so we can print the images in their 16x9 anamorphic ratio?

We also need to de-interlace the pictures.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I've tried to find answers to this in Adobe HELP but can't identify anything that will answer this problem.

This is from an old issue of Photoshop User magazine articel by Linnea Dayton, Jack Davis and Chisten Gillespie (Photoshop User Oct/Nov 2004)

Open image in PS and do Image>Pixel Aspect Ratio>HDV Animorphic as you have been doing. Then select the entire canvas (Ctrl or Command A), copy it (Command or Ctrl C) and then create a new document (Ctrl or Comand N). The Preset should be set to Clipboard and then make sure the "Advanced" tab is open, an select Pixel Aspect Ratio>Square. The last step is to paste the clipboard onto the new document.

As for the interlace - on the new image, go to Filter>Video>De-Interlace. Play with the settings in this dialog to get the best results, but Interpolation should be a better option than Duplication.
