Hello,
We just got a replacement PIX for are boss, thanks to a new tech that fired the old one.
I can tel net in to the PIXs but when I use the command line to login it ask for the user name and password? The book says to use the default user name and password. What is the default?? Please help
Thanks

It sounds like there is some aaa commands configured on the Pix if it is prompting for a username and password. My advise would be to connect to the Pix using a console cable and do a password recovery. You'll need to download a file from Cisco, instructions are here...

yizhar is right, you should not be typing in "login"

on cisco you just use passwords, a telnet password if telneting and an "enable" password to get to the more usefull commands. unless you have some aaa set up, as was mentioned earlier, but if this is new then you should not have set up any authentication yet. I do want to know how it got a hostname already if you could not get in yet? If following the instructions does not seem to work call the TAC, cisco's help desk, and have them help you. If this is new, as in new, and not as in new to you only, then you should get some help from them.

good luck
