PIX MAC spoofing

Hi there - here's a good one for you all for the new year!

I need to connect a PIX501 to a broadband ISP that uses DHCP to allocate IP addresses. However, I need to "register" the device with the ISP and therefore will have to spoof the MAC address of the PIX on a PC so as to be able to do this.

My question is this - does anyone know to do this on a PIX? I am running on version 6.1.4 and need to resolve this issue asap.

So do you need the PC to use the MAC address of the PIX, or the PIX should use the MAC of the PC?

If you need the pix to use MAC of the PC, then I don't think it has that option.

If you need the PC to use the MAC address of the PIX temporarly only for the registration process, then it might be possible, depending on the NIC card and driver, and OS version of the PC. Some NIC can be set with different MAC from their driver GUI interface or using a DOS utility that comes with the NIC.
Not all NIC can do that.

Thanks for the quick response. I had considered changing the NIC MAC address on the PC but wondered if it were possible to change the PIX itself - but it seems not.

A cheap and easy way to do this accomplished would be to throw a Linksys or similar cable/dsl router in front of the pix. I know on the Linksys that you can spoof a MAC address. Just my 2 cents.

Im having the same problem also. In need to spoof my IP for bellsouth. Did you ever solve this. I cannot find a easy way in the IOS.
