Hello all,

I have recently purchased a PIX 515e for a client of mine. I took a CCNA class about five years ago and really don't remember much of it. Where is a good place to start for learning about and how to configure the PIX? I've searched Amazon.com and most of the books seem to be 4-5 years old and don't cover the 7.x version of the software.

Thanks in advance...

Steve

Sorry, should have been more specific.

Port Forwarding, site-site VPN and a mobile VPN (laptops) using Verizon AirCards.

Thanks again,

Steve

Did you buy the 515E brand new? If so thats a shame as PIX products are End of Sale come July.

The configuration guide link I posted should get you started. A guide all in one book is the Cisco PIX/ASA Handbook by David Hucaby although VPN isnt really covered. Omar Santos also has a Book that does Cover the basics along with VPN Cisco ASA: All-in-One Firewall, IPS, and Vpn Adaptive Security Appliance

No, we purchased it refurbished. One of the reasons we did it is that we know someone else running the same VPN scheme with the aircards in the area and they are also using the 515e and it's a pretty difficult VPN to setup and we know it works with the 515e.

I saw the Hucaby book on Amazon...was going to order that. There is also a PIX VPN book that may help.

Thanks all...Steve
