I have a PIX 515 which is installed in a test area to be configured. All is well apart from one major issue.

The outside is connected to the rest of our network, the inside is a standalone PC. As soon as we connect the outside cable to the rest of the network our network is full of traffic. Servers responses are slow, people reporting problems copying network files, trouble connecting to network drives, so on so on....

I have noticed that as soon as it is plugged in the activity light on the port starts flashing like mad even though nothing is running through the firewall. RIP is switched off as we have a tiny network here.

Any thoughts or ideas anyone????

Regards

Richard

clear the arps?????

Does that answer your question hahaha.

No I don't think so. This is my first time using any cisco equipment so I'm not totally sure how you do that. Is that likely to resolve the problem??? How do I do it??

Cheers for the response

First thing this morning I cleared the arp's. Plugged the cable in, everything seemed great. Ten minutes later, everything starts going slow once again and the activity on the card is really high once again.

The Problem is That you have your PIX interface on 100baseT on a 10baseT hub, I believe, change the interface to auto "interface ethernet0 auto"

try that...
