Hi. I have an issue with pix 506e. I am connected to the console port with hyperterminal. When I power it on it goes this far and displays nothing else. Please help (new to pix). Any assistance with this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

My 506 will freeze at exactly the same point if I don't have any cables connected to the Ethernet ports.

Try joining the two Ethernet ports together with a crossover cable and reboot the PIX.

Hi Geoff,

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I connected the Cross-over cable to both ports but was unsuccessful at getting past the same point. The link lights are green on both ethernet ports but alas there is no activity.

I also attempted to connect it to a laptop ethernet port and a hub with another computer using straight through cable but this too was unsuccessful.

I purchased ths unit from a reputable reclamation center and they assured me of its function. I just need to get passed this point so I can get to a prompt to reset the device.

Thank you so much for taking the time to assist me with this.

If you have any further suggestions they too would be most appreciated.

Thank you again.

Hi Geoff,

I stumbled upon the solution to my issue in another thread. It was suggested to open the case on the pix and in the middle of the mainboard there is a jumper, I set it to
the other position, and booted it again. I now have access to the prompt.

Thank you again for your kind assistance.

Sincerely,
