Hi..

I finally changed out my PIX 501 for a new device, now I'm getting great connectivity through our cable modem. Now the problem I am getting is I'm not able to see the internal servers from my end. Our exchange and our iSeries.

I think there is one line in my pix 515 at the main that may be the issue and I'm guessing it is a password issue between both sides.

How do you change the isakmp key or password on both devices.

Here are the isakmp key entries on my pix 515 and how the ip address of the pix i am working on looks different.

isakmp key ******** address 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0
isakmp key ******** address xxx.199.28.2 netmask 255.255.255.255
isakmp key ******** address xxx.199.37.2 netmask 255.255.255.255 no-xauth no-conf
ig-mode
isakmp key ******** address xxx.199.36.26 netmask 255.255.255.255 no-xauth no-con
fig-mode
isakmp key ******** address xxx.53.111.10 netmask 255.255.255.255 no-xauth no-con
fig-mode

Everyone of the other branches have the no-xauth no-con
fig-mode

what is wrong?

Is this through the VPN or just NAT/PAT traffic?

For the VPN - You have to delete the lines and re-do them with the new passwords on both devices. Once done, disable isakmp on the outside interface and re-enable it. That should bring the tunnel back up.

For the NAT/PAT - please post a scrubbed config. (Mask the middle two octets of public IPs and remove all passwords.)

Hi,

Thanks so much for your help. Do I disable isakmp on the pix 501 side or the main office 515? If I disable it on the main, won't I mess up our other branches??

Thanks again!!! I will try that!

S

You should disable then re enable it on both if you are changing the password on both. Yes, it will disrupt the VPNs at the head end device. You should definitely do this after hours. (You can try just changing the passwords without bouncing the isakmp but I have found that to be spotty at best.)

Ok...there are lots of isakmp key's on the main office pix 515. I am just changing the one with the ip address of the branch correct???

Yes - unless you are feeling mischievous... ;-)

Ok....I did this on both sides....still nothing

Oh btw, I went to the pdm and I noticed that it ignored the access-list lines....is that normal?

No.
Try using the CLI. You always get what you type.
