I have created a document and when I print it, there is a light pink halo (halo(ing)) one part of my document. I thought it may be the printer but the print shop one also is haveing the same problem. Any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks

I'm a little confused about where the halo is. Is it in the Photoshop file itself, or is it due to some effects you've applied in Illustrator? Do the images print ok from Photoshop?

blueark.

The images are fine. I created them in photoshop. But like you mentioned earlier, I think that they are a transparency problem. Because the halo is in the outline (only on the color box) of the box that the imported raster image came with.

Ok, just needed to rule that out. Any chance you could upload a screen grab of the problem, or even the Illustrator file itself?

Will:

I discovered that at the top and the bottom of the image there are several paths formed because of the frayed edges of the logo. You need to go in and join them all up into one complete shape before the mask will work.

Here it goes:

1. Here's the logo by itself. The blue lines are there in the BG to show transparency:

2. Drop shadow removed:

3. After I added a stroke, Effect>Path>Outline Object, I made the stroke red for visibility:

4. After expanding the appearance:

5. When ungrouping, I noticed several loose paths had formed:

6. I drew a slightly smaller circle to fit on the paths to include at least some anchors of each, then Added to Shape Area in the pathfinder palette. Next, I selected path and raster and applied a clipping mask:

...and finally a drop shadow:

when you click on the image should you still be able to see the outline of the transparency? or should there just be one box?

Well the clip mask worked, but not with the drop shadow on. If you just turn off the drop shadow and then print (halo). If you use the clipping mask and then take off the drop shadow(no halo). But I really need the drop shadow to help my image stand out.

Any ideas on this one now that we have pretty muched found the problem.

Thanks

ok got it, here is how:

with the help of the clipping mask I was able to then cancel the drop shadow on the image. I took two different shapes (sent them to the back) and put them on the edges where I wanted the shadow (as long as they were over the color I was ok). All good now.

Thank you so much for your help.
