I have three systems, 2000 Pro, XP Pro and Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. Their IP's are respectively 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102 and 192.168.1.100.

They are networked and the server has AD installed along with DNS server.

After creating accounts on the server, I can log onto any one of the clients with no problem.

When I run nslookup pearlman.local from either client, it returns client2.pearlman.local, which is the server.

I can ping the server from 2000 and XP, but can't ping 2000 and XP from the server. I also cannot ping client to client.

What configuration am I missing and what do I do to fix this issue?

Check Windows XP built in firewall, its most likely enabled which will cause symptoms like the ones you are seeing.

Maybe the XP and 2K boxes have a personal firewall installed blocking icmp.

Chris.
