I use dos dbaseiv and have written a huge database with several fields. I have 800x600 bit .jpg pictures relating to many of the subjects discussed. I have a windows database that reads my dos database and allows pictures. But: They are clear only if small .bmps. They make the screen crowded (along with the type) and really slow down a browse.
I would like to not have the picture in a database, but have a field in each record of the database giving the complete path to the appropriate large picture. Then if I wanted to look at it I could copy the field and someway paste and click on it (to avoiding errors in retyping long paths). I can't figure how to do it.

hi !
can u explain what problem ur facing
u can always add a column to table and store the path of ur images in that column

use alter table command to add new column and when it ask that u want to keep existing data say yes

if you are using MS Access you can directly store link in the field using insert object option from menu and insert as link

Thanks for your reply. I had done what you said to the table. But my database does not handle fields as "links", and I am unable to figure a way to use that data to easily open the picture. Maybe I will have to buy Access.

Actually you solved my problem. I was embedding the
pictures. When I changed and ole-ed them I got bigger ones by clicking on the small one in the screen. Thanks a
million.

Oops. It worked for a while. But now when I click on the
thumbnail a box pops up that says "Cannot Process Command. Ole Server Busy".
