hi

let me see if i can explain this....
i am creating a report for a jewelry stock card. it has all sort of info...wgt, carats..., i also have the address/location path of the stock's picture let's say "C:\images\Ring0001.jpg" (keeping in mind that i have hundreds of pics in the folder) i want the report to display the pic through it's address and not from reading it from the datatable, because i dont have it there.

can this be done?????

thanks in advance

Not using crystal as a stand alone product. The picture itself (not the path) must be stored in the database for this to work.

Assumming you have the Developer or advanced edition of Crystal , you can use the Crystal Report Designer Component in a VB project and programatically change the properties of a linked image object.

have a look at the presentation I did at CDUGNA in May - it covers several ways this can be done.

The disadvantages of the method Don suggests are...
1) Requires a custom viewer to be developed
2) That even doesn't get triggered on export

my cViewIMAGE utility might be the solution you are looking for.

thanks chelseatech for ur tip.
one question, i dont have any of the crystal report s installed, i am just using the crystal decision that comes with VB,net, can i install the utility and see how it work or i need CR 8.5 and up. also i would like to see ur presentation, under which link would i find it in ur site???
thanks again

The CR that comes with vb.net is called CR.Net. It is somewhere betweeen CR8.5 and CR9 and excludes some CR features as well (e.g guidelines).

It does not include the COM driver you need for my utility.
