I use Office XP and Photoshop Elements 2. Recently all pictures in my files and attachments in e-mail started to open automatically in Word which of course does not give me an image. I can work around this which wastes a lot of time, but I want my pictures to open in Elements 2 initially. What adjustments can be made? Thanks.

Pictures automatically open in Word

not sure type you are using but for .jpg and about all you can right click on an image and go to properties. there it should show you what program that file opens with and a change button beside it. click that and you should see a listing of all the programs on you system. find your elements program, click to highlight and hit ok. from then on all images with that file extension should open with elements.
if you use multiple file extensions you will need to do this will all of them.
