I want to be able to set a border for pictures imported into a Word 2003 document. I can do this for a single picture by formatting picture, line 8pt, colour (light blue), but cannot save this combination to apply to all the other pictures. Is this possible, or does each one have to be done separately?

AFAIK you have to do so for each one separately. Maybe someone will correct me on this.

You could, however, have a macro to go through the document and perform the format on all of them.

Hi,
Or you could apply the border formatting once to the first picture, then use the Format Painter to apply the formatting to all your other pictures. Double-click the paintbrush to use it more than once.

Thanks Guys! That's very helpful. I tries Format Painter and it does exactly what I want.

I've been using MSWord on PCs ever since they were invented (yes, I know I'm old) and have never used Format Painter. Mind you, I'm a Pagemaker man myself.

I now need to get a bit of practice with FP; looks like I'll be using it a lot.

Good service guys; Thanks again.

Jim

If you open any inline shape and set the border as desired, right-click on the shape and select Set as Default. That border will become the default for all shapes until you restrt WOrd.

If you want to make this a permanent change, then open normal.dot, insert an in line shape, change the border, set it to default, delete the in line shape (docment now empty) and close Word. Answer Yes to save the changes to the gobal template. The border is a now a permanent default.

Or do the same with a template (global or not) that you use for the documents with the shapes. That way it would be permanent for all documents made from THAT template, but not for all documents.
