I just switched from an Avaya Merlin to an IP Office.

On our Merlin, a user could place a call on hold. Then a different user would press "Pickup General" and dial the extension to pickup the call that was on hold.

Is there any way to do this? I know we can us park zones, but based on the number of people we have doing this I would need at least a dozen park zones to keep everything straight. Trying to create human processes to organize that many park zones would be extremely difficult.

I have tried to use the button: "Call Pickup" (Emulation > Call Pickup) and "Call Pickup Any" (Advanced > Call > Call Pickup Any).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thats the caveat of IP Office compared to the Merling Legend / Magix systems.

On the Magix or Merlin, when a call was held by pressing the red HOLD button, it actually was "parked" on the extension so the #9xxx picked up the held call.

On IPO the red HOLD button is a local HOLD only on the extension and can only be retrieved by pressing the held appearance button on that extension.

You need to use PARK - you can use system PARK for example 1 through 16, but if there are a lot of users parking calls, that's a lot of buttons.

Another way would be to give each user their own PARK button, for example:

Ext 214 has a PARK 214 button on it.

Another user can retreive the call by dialing the (default *38*N#) short code *38*214# to retrieve the call.

You can change the default system short code to something that is a little more friendly to the users.

We have made it very similar to the Merlin systems by using
*9N#.

I recommend ending it with the #, because you will run into troubles if you use the PARK codes 1 through 16 at reception extensions and also use personal PARK codes (extension numbers) on the other phones.

Thank you for the help.

Your system works.

I just have to figure out how to retrain 100+ people that have been doing this for years.

if you give a user a call park button without specifying a park bay the system will autocratically allocate park bays by appending a digit to the extn number & incrementing each time

so if the users on 214 parked 3 concurrent calls they would be park bays 2140, 2141 & 2143.

i usually increase the dial delay count & create a short code of:

SC 2XXX
TN .
Feature unpark

to retrieve a call all a user has to do is dial the park bay number.
