After 2 rings, incoming calls used to get automatically answered with a message "Enter extension number or press 0 for operator." Our phones went down (in the whole neighborhood) for a few hours, and now it answers after 5 rings. How do I change it back to 2 rings? Thanks.

Need to know which Partner system you are using, and what is/was answering the lines, i.e. Voice Mail, Auto Attendant, DXD, etc.

That's most of my problem why I can't find the correct manuals online. The physical phone is an AT&T MLS-34D. The central hardware says Partner 206E Module R3.1, Partner Plus, Partner Mail VS R1. I don't know what the feature is called, but it's not voicemail. When an outside call comes in, it should ring twice, then the system answers with a message asking them to enter the extension number of the party they want. Otherwise the operator will answer. I guess that sounds like Auto Attendant. I've never heard of DXD.

check th FAQ's at the top of the page for a link to Avaya site to download manuals

I know where to find the manuals. I don't where the answer to my question is with those manuals. I don't know if my question is handled by the phone company, the voice mail system, or the Partner central box.

try going to ext 10 or 11
press feture 00
hit the left intercom button twice then #506
enter 1
then feture 00

that should do it

Hi QSAC2,
It sounds like you have a Partner with a back up battery that is getting weak. You might want to step through the program and write down the settings before you lose the program. This is a tedious job. It may take you an hour or so.
After you write out the program, consider replacing the battery. You will have to reprogram this thing sooner or later. This is better than a blank processor and an emergency service call.

Skip555, My Hunt Delay is already set to immediate.
ITPPhoneGuy, do you know where the battery is located? I think I know most of the settings in case they go out. I didn't realize there was a battery, but I guess that would make sense.
Thanks for your help.

If your delay is set to immediate (which is actually 2 rings), and it takes 5 rings before answering, it sounds like you have either a dead VM port, or you have an extra port programmed into Hunt Group 7. Is this constant, or intermittant? When you go to log into Voice Mail, by pressing Intercom 777, does it answer immediatly, or after 4 rings? Everytime?

How many of the 206E modules do you have in your system? This would tell us the extension numbers of the VM ports, and then you would go into system programming and double check the settings.

Hi QSAC2,
The battery is soldered onto the motherboard. It is a three terminal, 3.6 V Nicad. It is the same one that used to be used on early 486, 386 motherboards. The originals are mostly blue in colour. Battery suppliers in Canada normally sell them around $10.00 each. Look on the bottom corner near the front (case wire guide). There is a battery disconnect jumper that I normally open before begining the procedure. Don't forget to close it when you are done.
