Hi guys,

So I just picked up some 9608G's on the fleabay, first thoughts on loading screen was "this is different".

I can't clear this thing at all, downloads our firmware but doesn't seem to install.

S96x1 is what it has as a firmware. Does any of the IPOguru's seen this before? Appears to be custom firmware, anyone know how to get it off?

The firmware name should be longer to and say exactly which version it has.

"Trying is the first step to failure..." - Homer

Seems to be sip firmware. Rename the 96x1upgrade.txt file to match the sip version name.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

There are 2 files noted on the phone:
S96x1_VKR_V35r3442_V35r3442.txt --> I'll make a copy of 96xxupgrade and rename it to the text.
and
S96x1_SALBR7_0_1_2r9_V4r83.tar

Update: Looks like it pulled the 96x1Supgrade.txt instead, i'll have to rename that one. I'm trying the SIG -> h323 first though.

copy the 96x1Hupgrade.txt and rename the ccopy to the S version.
It will then pull the H.323 file.
The whole sig part never worked for me.

It worked, thought I had to set up my own http server for it to work.

You are welcome.

I dont know why the SIG setting exists to be honest, it has never worked for me either, not once :)

The SIG should work if your 96x1Supgrade.txt check for SIG before choosing which firmware it tries to install.

"Trying is the first step to failure..." - Homer

The older models used a 96xxuograde.txt file which needs to use a SIG comparison to choose between SIP or H.323. With the new models, they will check for 96x1Supgrade.txt if configured with SIG = SIP, otherwise will check for 96x1Hupgrade.txt.

I couldn't get it to pick up on:
A) the IPO
B) the 96x1Hupgrade

To get it to work and install the h323, I had to set up an HTTP server on my desktop and change sig from default to SIP. Jesus Avaya... get your sh*t together... lol.

This is why you should go to your maintainer/ reputable dealer for your equipment

Any saving in hardware costs you may have seen have now been totally swallowed by the cost of your time in trying (& failing) to get them to work.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

yea, that makes sense. Figuring this out help me get more than a hand full of phones working, and so simple to do.
